Many activities are available in the local area and
it is only approximately an hours drive to the seacoast. Locally,
there are several golf courses, as well as miniature golf, summer
theatre, movies, roller skating rinks, and shopping. In
August, the fair season starts and is always a popular activity.
Swimming and
boating are available to all. The water is clean and
refreshing and shallow areas appropriate for children are provided.
No life guard is on duty so parental supervision is a must.
Fishing is, of course, a primary pastime here. In addition to
large and small mouth bass, the lake yields brown trout, white and
yellow perch, pickerel, and crappie. Bass in excess of seven
pounds are not unheard of in East Lake. Sunfish seem to just
await the opportunity to be caught, right off the docks, by young
anglers trying their luck for the first time.
Boats,
motors, canoes, and kayaks are available for rent.
